Drosophila Protocols
Reviews:

starsComprehensive in scope, not quite enough detail.
This book is very impressive in the range, and (there different rezensenten said), IS indispensable for each possible baptizing couch laboratory. It is a very valuable adding to each baptizing couch laboratory. The changes of book installation practically each range of the baptizing couch work. Many of the discussed topics are cut, like the chapter on RNS disturbance, arranged cell distance and biochemical preparations of the baptizing couch (like soluble core excerpts and diaphragm proteins). Entirely I am very much pleased with the book, and gladly I bought it! A section of the book, which particularly useful I find, is the beginner leader to the Taufliegegenomprojekt. Grasp this section the information available from the recently final Taufliegegenomprojekt. It explains us, which kinds of the information about fly the Genom are present, how these information was collected and where we it from the InterNet to downloaden to be able (completely with InterNet Web site addresses)! My only criticism of the book is a criticism, which applies to ALL manuals, which are published by cold spring port laboratory press: minutes are too superficial, and busily not in detail sufficient, in order to permit a beginner, these techniques (to accomplish is, which SHOULD do a manual ideally). This was applicable by all CSHLP manuals, which I saw. Of the CSHL publications error search chapter is remarkably absent, to which can refer, if the researcher runs into problems. How all know we, there are many small (and apparently trivial) details to each possible minutes, which, if it is not accomplished correctly, can form or break an experiment. Some steps in minutes are ever more fastidious than others, and it is critically, so that we know, which steps with a tub to take place can and which steps more eyedropper require. For my money the best and kompletteste manual is PRESENT MINUTES IN the MOLECULAR biology manual (Wiley and sons), which is regularly updated, and has the extensive Fehlersuchkapitele, those to each minutes to be attached (they came out recently with a companion manual, which employs excluding protein techniques) also I recommend in high of degrees the METHODS IN the MOLECULAR biology rows (Humana press) for its short minutes and Ergaenzungsfehlersuchkapitele. If the researcher with the techniques is familiar, the Fehlersuchkapitele does not need to be advised, but, if the researcher is a beginner, the Fehlersuchkapitele is inestimable. Unfortunately a baptizing couch manual is missing from also not from these publishers, but from the marks of this CSHL of manual a good replacement. I recommend this book for all Drosophilists!

starsA must have for any Drosophila lab
This latest edition by Sullivan et al. is the best protocols manual for Drosophila that I've seen. It should be a staple for any fly lab. It provides the most up-to-date protocols for common techniques (ie staining, dissections, cytology) as well as more recent additions (i.e. DNA microarrays, neuroactive drugs, GFP reporters). Moreover, the protocols are clear, detailed, and easy to follow.
