starsCould be greatly improved
The problem with this book is it is written too much like a book and not like a textbook. It is nearly impossible to find the equations that are embedded in the text if you are trying to do a quick reference on a concept. In addition, the index is horrible which leaves me constantly googling concepts that I need for the case studies since you can never find them in the book. Also, I'm not really sure how the book distinguishes itself as "health care" there is little to no health care specifics as far as finance goes. In all reality it isn't a great book especially if it is for your first finance class and you're better off looking up academic journals for a the health care finance perspective.

starsStraight to the point and practical
Very good textbook: gives you all the necessary foundations for understanding the financial issues in healthcare.

starsA Great Intro Into Health Care Finance
As indicated in the introduction of the book, the goal of the book, ", was of causing a text the class participant to the most important basic rules presents and uses of healthcare finances..." This book was an excellent introduction in financing. It did not only explain and financial designations and theories to bookkeeping, uses it excellent of examples of the material life health care situations for further the understanding of the reader of the topics. This was my first time, financing of any kind was suspended. At the end of the book, I believed, how I had a firm understanding of the bases. Excellent book for beginners.

starsSuperb textbook
As a cardiologist, I have used many textbooks over the years. I am now a hospital's Chief Medical Officer and am enrolled in an MHA program. Dr. Gapenski's book is one of the best-written textbooks I have ever used. It clearly and consisely discusses financial concepts as they apply to healthcare. He has the ability to make the most complex concepts easily understood.

starsExcellent text with Case book & teaching guide available
_ this text to the university Florida and Wisconsin the program for the program for the master in the health line use. I terminated the straight course in November, 2000 - a course, which was informed by the author. It was excellent. While it is written, in order to fulfill the needs of a class participant without financial background, the material can with difficulty also be to the CPA. A drop book and a teacher leader are also seperately present, and someone helpful to be, for the first time a financial course were informed.

starsNot much to do with healthcare
This chap all books are called in order to believe to lead you that they are over "healthcare" financing. They have very little completely approximately at the healthcare financing -- them are to finance generally beginner horizontally aligned Intro/ Intro to the bookkeeping material. There was absolutely no healthcare specific information, which would have been not already understood by nobody with a business background, which has at all even been to a hospital.
