Boron's Physiology
Great book. Very thorough. Includes the latest findings on molecular biology that affect physiology. A bit dense though. The online link to student consult is extremely useful.


Book gives real understanding
This book is a gem. What is great about it is that since it teaches fundamental biophysical mechanisms, I could apply the principles to areas that it does not cover. Specially for the nerve membrane section, I felt that the writing was not only lucid but also sufficiently in-depth to apply the information to real life. While it may not lead to high USMLE scores directly, the book will definitely create a solid base on which to build upon later. More efforts to be comprehensive would lead to a tome like Gray's Anatomy.


great reference
A fantastic reference for the students of the grad and in medicine. The better thing for lle complete figures and the supplements picked, but great do not study with the detailed illustrations large.


My bible
A+ This book spectacularly integrates modern understanding of biochemical and genetic processes with clinically relevant explanations. Medicine cannot avoid the increasing focus towards the molecular and genetic bases of disease, so I disagree with some of the other reviews that there is too much of a molecular focus. If you plan to enter into medicine and be the best physician/researcher you can, get comfortable with this stuff early. That said, if you are not someone who thrives on filling their head up just for the sake of more deeply understanding processes, and instead have limited time and memory and simply need MCAT or USMLE-relevant information, perhaps you are better off getting another book. Because of its multiple contributors, each section manages to go into incredible detail that would not have been possible with a single author. The result is a 1200+ page beast that assumes relative comfort with biochem, genetics, thermodynamics, etc. If you read this book and understand it, you're on your way.

not for me
This book has mólto outside of the biophysics and many useless equations for one student of medicine. This book is probably for those who is interested in making the search of the laboratory or has need of one acute understanding of the molecular property and biophysicses of the cells. Poichè to med the student during the first year this book once confronted to other books is useless. It can be hour and then to take peek while already I have bought it spiacente a this book is not for me.

I got this book for a vertebrate physiology undergrad class, and covered all the material quite thoroughly. I will be keeping this book around for med school.


Excellent Book - Great Clinical Applications
They are a pre-med that it has bought this book for personal interest and to complete my materials of physiology and Biology course. Exceptionally it is detailed and illustrated in beautiful way. Relative the much easy one to read more and than less to dry up itself that fisio similar books (IE Guytons). Moreover I enjoy the several clinical applications that are incorperated in great part during the text. The qualcos' other to point out it is that it has large understanding it on the expression of the gene that is becoming excessive important in the medicine and sciences of base. Highly dawned and highly suggested like a learning riferimento/testo. It is perceived that however that my grippaggio of the book has come completely loosened after a period of time much short and has demanded little a TLC on my part and approximately $10.00 in the double quantity of the test 10lb has parteggiato the tape. Relative the good ones like new hour however!

large text! that is a book fabulous and highly I suggest it. mine gripe it only is that the Web site is not that what is promised. beginning from this writing, contains only a profile of every understood it and it does not include the additional material promised after to be messsi in contact with the publisher, they are said to me to that this eventually was repaired within proceeding or you open them of 2004.


Too confusing for begginers,excellent if you know the basics
I have bought 4 books of physiology during my medical studies and are only according to year student! And I must say, those this book are definetely that best one, if you have the base acquaintance. If you are a new one begginer however, difficult one is a lot much to begin with this book, since the detailed explanations are a lot and demand a determined level ' of the scientific sense to think '. There are many historical examples of search and connections, something that a student who prepearing for a exam does not wish to waste the time over. Some of the explanations are too much long and complicated, that unties the idea begins them of that what the explanation was approximately. Of other part, if you are enough skilfull in physiology, this is a large book. The images are extraordinary and a lot scematic and comprehensible!!! Definetely you obtain mólto for your moneies! Therefore, in conclusion, if bought a book simpler than physiology and you obtain the fundamental principles from here, the medical physiology is the choise perfect to continue to expand your acquaintance with. But nonla it buys like yours much first book of physiology. As soon as it will confuse them and frustrate.


The best and most comprehensive physiology text
No question this is the best physiology text going. Thorough, detailed, but has plenty of summary sections to keep everything organized. Very biophysical in sections, which I suspect many med students won't like, but everything's here you'll need. The sole (minor) problem is that the jpeg files on the CDRom are rather low resolution which makes them look fuzzy in a Powerpoint presentation. Otherwise, superb.
